New Idea, New Design

posted on Oct 03, 2007 at 2:29am

So while I have had a lot of free time lately, I've been working on a new design for xinnyburt. This time, the site will be geared toward my games that I create. I haven't been toying around with my games anywhere near as much as I used to, but maybe this will make me want to get back into that. Who knows? In any case, this is more than likely the final design to what xinnyburt will look like. At least for now. Haha.

So what can you expect from this new xinnyburt? First of all, you will be able to view and play every game I have created since I started making them. Also, you will be able to see all of the games I currently have in progress, including information, ideas, and screenshots. On top of that, you will be able to submit ideas and even your own games. If you can contribute solid ideas, I will use them in my games. If your games are fun and interesting to play, I will make sure they are available for play here on xinnyburt. While the site will focus on me and my creations, I still want to be able to include everyone.

As always, this is a work in progress. I just wanted to put something up that was fun to look at. Don't really have much of a life right now so I'm sure I'll have plenty of time to work on it. For those that enjoy the games I make, I trust you'll be happy with the final result.

Opening Delayed Until Further Notice

"You can't Austin! You promised!" Unfortunately, I had a few more problems again with my domain registrar. There are a few parts of the site that are not working properly, and I need them in order to run certain parts. I see no point in opening the new site if it won't work.

If you have any questions, please let me know. I am working with my registrar to get this solved to that I may open it as soon as possible. An email will be sent to all members of xinnyburt as soon as the new version is released.

Finishing Up the Last Touches

posted on Aug 28, 2006 at 2:29am

Since my last update, I've been spending hours upon hours on xinnyburt in hopes of opening the doors as soon as possible. I've had people asking me left and right when the site will finally open. Even my brother is anxious to see it go live. However, most everyone who knows me probably knows that I do not like anything to be unfinished or sloppy. If I'm going to do something, I'm going to make sure it's done effectly and efficiently.

As the title says, I am finishing up everything now. It's running properly. I've got nearly everything I need setup. Now it's a matter of adding content and gearing it up for the users. As I said in the previous announcement, xinnyburt shall be focusing on game development and gameplay. It's centered on those who have an interest in creating the storyline, designing the characters, drawing the background, or just being the critic of these said areas. We're offering a place to brush up your skills and learn a thing or two.

My intentions at the moment are to open xinnyburt Friday, September 1st. This will allow me five days to complete what I need to complete, and get everything going that needs to go. There will be bugs; I'm sure of that. However, the majority of the site will be ready to undertake its new genre.

I will be looking for people to help me that are interested. The following leads will become available within a week or two of the opening pending the amount of active users.

Human Resource - Will lead a team that will assist both team members and members with any issues they may have.
Game Reviewer - Will lead a team that will review any and all game, resource, or tutorial submissions.
Content Manager - Will lead a team that will moderate any and all new game, resource, or tutorial submissions.

If you're interested in applying for one of these positions, please send me an email or use the contact page to send. Applications will be reviewed and answered within seven days. Please note that you must be registered to fill out an application.

I'm rather excited to know that xinnyburt is nearly ready to open. I understand that a lot of people may not be looking forward to the genre I have chosen. However, I can guarantee that there's a little bit of something for everyone; whether it be the development of a game, the creation of a title image, or the general decussions on the forum, there's something.

Be sure to let me know if you have any questions. I'm building this site for the community. Let's make sure we all enjoy it.

More Bad Than Good Unfortunately

posted on Aug 22, 2006 at 2:29am

As I'm sure everyone's guessed it via the title, xinnyburt is not quite ready to open. I've run into a few problems while finishing up the final touches on the website and they're the most important pieces. It also doesn't help that I've having a couple database issues right now; not the host or anything this time, it's just not cooperating with what I want to do.

I'm working on it night and day though to get it up and running. A lot of people have been asking me the website involves and what it's all about. Today, I will let you in on the overall idea of xinnyburt.

I'm sure that everyone is familiar with the games that I make, right? If not, I make games that are simple to install, and easy to play. I use several programs to make my games, but most of my recent additions have been made with RPG Maker XP. I always seem to get a really good response out of most of the games that I make, and I know a lot of the people have said they'd like to try creating their own. There are quite a few game development websites out there, but I do not feel they really meet the needs of most developers; whether they be novice, intermediate, or an expert. I wanted to see if I could bring a website with this genre to life, but help it grow as it needs to.

I have created a website that will allow users to play custom games, upload custom games, upload resources to make custom games, download resources, etc.. Also, I am also aware that the currently targeted group of users I am dealing with is really into competitions. I have implemented a tournament system as well that will help users get into the designing of whatever they see fit. If you'd like to start small and see who can create the best character sprite, we'll have the option to do so. Want to go all out and see who can create the best custom-made game? We'll be able to offer the place to do that too!

Our goal with this website is to provide a little bit of everything that is all contained within a single genre. Whether it be designing images, thinking up plot lines, or doing the actual coding or build work yourself, there will be something for you here. However, as I've previously stated, we're not ready to go just yet. We've still got some work to do it get it ready, and we want it as close to 100% when we open the doors.

We will make it a goal to be finished as soon as we can. I did not want this project to exceed the month of August, and I'll continue to keep that my goal. If anyone has any questions, suggestions, feedback, or found a spelling error in this announcement, let me know. The more help we get from the users, the more it'll match their wants and needs.

Closed Beta Stages

posted on Aug 10, 2006 at 2:29am

Most everything's complete. What's that mean now? I need to actually make sure everything's working properly without myself doing the bug-finding. In order to open the website successfully, I need to make sure it's all working nicely.

So what's this beta all about? I'm looking for five people to utilize xinnyburt for the next week; looking for bugs and testing all of the features the website contains. This will help me make sure the site is ready to go when it goes live. If you're interested in helping me, leave a comment on this announcement and I'll return with an answer within a couple days.

If all goes well, xinnyburt should go live by Friday, August 18. Please note that this is merely an estimate.
